Bidyarani death case: demands for punishment of the culprit fills Court complex as accused husband produced

Large number people today thronged into the court complex of the Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM) Thoubal and shouted slogan demanding appropriate punishment of the culprit behind the murder of Okram Ningol Leishangthem ongbi Bidyarani, as her husband Leishangthem Sanayaima, who has been arrested in connection with the murder was produced today in the court.

Leishangthem Sanayaima of Thoubal Leishangthem Wangmataba, the accused has been remanded in police custody.

Large number of people led by member of JAC formed against the Suspicious Death of Okram Ningol Leishangthem Ongbi Bidyarani Devi today gathered at the court complex at around 10 am after getting information that the accused will be produced before the CJM Thoubal today. The accused husband Leishangthem Sanayaima was brought to the court at around 1 pm and as soon as he was taken to the court room under tight security arrangement the people thronged to the court shouted slogan for awarding appropriate punishment.  Slogans like “Lady killer should not be granted bail”, “hand over the murderer to the public”, “Woman are not dolls” etc were shouted  by the mob.

23 years old Bidyarani was found hanged to death at her room on the intervening night of November 18 and 19 in a suspicious manner. Police arrested her husband on November 19 in connection with the suspicious death and has been remanded in custody till today. Both have a 2 years old son.
