The District Programme Officer (DPO), Integrated Child Development Services Scheme (ICDS) Cell, Kakching under the supervision of the District Administration Kakching continued its ongoing awareness campaign under the 10th Edition of the “Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao” (BBBP) scheme at Kakching Khunou High School today.
The programme was attended by Dr. Thaodem Rajen Singh, Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Kakching; Y Achouba, ZEO Kakching; Ningthoujam Parango Singh, DPO/CDPO, Kakching and Chingtham Landhoni Devi, Head Mistress, Kakching Khunou High School, Kakching as presidium members.
Nandita Ngangbam, Supervisor, ICDS Kakching, highlighted the objectives of the Beti Bachao Beti Padhao (BBBP) scheme in her keynote address and explained that the BBBP aims to prevent gender-biased sex selection, ensure the survival and protection of the girl child, and promote education and empowerment for girls. She also mentioned that BBBP places a strong focus on ensuring that girls have access to quality education and opportunities for personal growth.
As a part of the programme, a sanitary pad disposal machine was installed at the Kakching Khunou High School. The disposal machine is a hygienic and eco-friendly device designed for the safe disposal of used sanitary pads which will help prevent pollution by burning or decomposing pads, converting them into harmless ash or biodegradable material.
