Battle 30+: BJP hits back Congress, calls Gaikhangam an immature political veteran

Imphal, Jan 10: Political drama in the state have been heated up with allegations and counter-allegation started charging against each other among the top rung of Indian National Congress (INC) and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
After the Election Commission of India announced the dates assembly polls of five states including Manipur on January 4, the political milieu in the state had worn a new look with propaganda machines started up at Congress Bhavan of INC at BT Road and Nityaipat Chuthek office of BJP state unit.
The BJP is putting all its effort to highlight the 15-years of Congress ruleunder the leadership of Chief Minister, Okram Ibobi Singh and his fiery lieutenant, Deputy Chief Minister, Gaikhangam in the state as a “corrupt”. While, the Congress is projecting the BJP state Unit as a group of political novices and anathema, who are creating unnecessary noises.
Gaikhangam in a public meeting organised by Heingang Block Congress Committeeat PAYA Ground, Kairang under Heingang A/C, said on January 8 that Congress does not count BJP as a rival for the 11th Manipur Legislative Assembly election.
Rebutting the statement of Gaikhangam, BJP has ridiculed the Deputy Chief Minister and other veteran INC leaders as politicians who refuse to “mature” despite of serving as MLA for years.
M Asnikumar Singh, State Vice President, BJP State Unit told to Imphal Times on Tuesday that the tragedy of the Congress Party is that their politicians refuse to mature. Experiences and age never make them mature statesmen; they rather become much more regressive over time. The latest testimony to this is the current Deputy Chief Minister of Manipur, Gaikhangam, as evident by his recent statements.
Even worse, Asnikumar said that Gaikhangam turns out to be very anti-democracy. The cardinal principle of any Democracy is respecting the dignity and value of the people. However, the veteran Congressman (Gaikhangam) has no qualms in violating this principle and thus revealing his true nature when he blames the citizens in a democracy as having committed a mistake in the 2014 elections by electing the NDA into power at the Center.
“Absolute Majority in the Lok Sabha is a consequence of errors committed by the citizenry of India”, Asnikumar recalled Gaikhangam as saying in public meetings recently.
Further, the VP of BJP State Unit said that Gaikhangam needs a lesson or two on the demonetisation process.”The people of the country know for sure that this step (demonetisation) has very adversely affected the clandestine enrichment activities of the persons like Gaikhangam and the Congress.”
When it comes to sectarian activities, Asnikumar further said that nobody knows better than him (Gaikhangam) as he himself was a signatory to a very controversial Memorandum demanding Greater Nagaland. Well, the world knows about Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
It is understandable that Gaikhangam thinks of attacking Modi as he has very little to show as his own achievement. But the people of Manipur and the country would be best served by politicians maturing into statesmen and not by becoming worse politicians over time as Gaikhangam has been.
While terming the upcoming assembly election as a Game Changer Battle for the people of Manipur against the corrupt of CM Ibobi-led Congress regime, Asnikumar said that the BJP will put an end to the misrule of Congress in the state of Manipur.
