Silchar, Jan 5:
The Barak Manipur Friendship Association (BMFA) dispatched essential relief items from Silchar on Thursday for the inhabitants of relief shelters in strife-ridden Manipur.
Biswadeep Gupta, President of BMFA, conveyed his sentiments, emphasizing the critical need for aid to those enduring a harrowing time in relief camps amid the volatile situation in Manipur. Gupta urged valley-based organizations and civil society groups to step forward and offer assistance to the beleaguered residents of Manipur, who are grappling with the consequences of unrest in their state.
Gupta assured a sustained commitment to sending relief supplies to Manipur’s shelters and outlined plans for further initiatives to support the populace during these challenging times. He expressed gratitude to various contributors, including the Meira-Paibis’ of Barak Valley, Assam University Non-Teaching Employees Association, Lions’ Club of Silchar Valley, Youths Against Social Evils, and others who generously provided the much-needed relief materials.
The efficient transportation of relief items from Silchar to Manipur was acknowledged, with special thanks extended to the Jiribam Superintendent of Police’s office for their role in facilitating the process. Notably, on August 13th of the previous year, BMFA had previously appealed for assistance during a peace convention on the Manipur crisis in Silchar, attended by representatives from diverse communities.
