The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways has taken the decision to convert the Barak and Makru Bailey Suspension bridges along National Highway 37 (Imphal-Jiribam) into RCC, informed Chief Secretary of Manipur, O Nabakishore today.
Informing this to media persons, the Chief Secretary said that following the permission from the Ministry, the National Highway Infrastructure Development Company Limited (NHIDCL) and officials of state government have arrived at a decision to start construction of the two important bridges during a meeting yesterday.
During the meeting it has been decided to start the e-tender for Rs. 80 crore which is the official estimated cost of the construction project. Due to the poor conditions of bridges, the people of the state are facing disruptions since long time, said the Chief Secretary.
