Bandh affect normal traffic along Mayai lambi road

48 hours general strike called against the killing of 55 years old lady today seriously affected normal traffic along Mayai lambi route. Since early morning today large number of women and youths came out to the street at Hiyanthang area and stopped all sorts of vehicles from crossing the area.Mentioned may be made that 55 years old woman identified as Sarakhatun, wife of late Abdul of Hiyangthang Pallak Chandranadi was found brutally murdered on September 21, with both hands and legs tied from the bed of Nambul River at Irom Meijroa area. The lady was reported missing since September 19 evening and was seen last along with a person identified as Md. Abdul Kadir @ Amuthoi (28) of the same locality. The said person too remained untraceable after the incident and hence locals suspect his hand to the killing of the lady. Soon after the dead body was found on that day the irate mob dismantle and burnt down the house of Abdul Kadir on the same evening. Later on the following day a large number of women came to submit memorandum to the chief minister demanding punishment of the culprit involved to the killing of the lady. The womenfolk were stopped at Keishamthong area by a police team and allowed only few representatives to submit the memorandum.Police are still investigating the matter and the suspected killer is still at large.
