Ban on August 14 patriotic songs should be statewide, not just Khurai – MLA Susindro

Khurai AC MLA Leishangthem Susindro has voiced strong disapproval over the act of an individual named Waiba, who allegedly compelled artists to issue a clarification on newspaper regarding their participation in the Patriotic Song Competition organized by the Khurai BJP Mandal on August 13 and 14 at Khurai Popular High School.
Speaking at a press conference held at his residence on Khurai Tinsid Road, MLA Susindro said that if singing patriotic songs in connection with Manipur’s independence from the British on August 14 is deemed inappropriate, such a restriction should apply across the entire state and not be limited to Khurai alone.
He further explained that the competition was intended to instill in today’s generation an appreciation of the historical significance of August 13 and 14. Due to on-the-spot enrollment, the event could not be completed on August 13 and continued on August 14. Susindro described the act of forcing participating artists to publish a clarification in a newspaper as unfortunate.
