Bamboo shoot processing training programme held in Imphal

A three-day training programme on Bamboo Shoot Processing and Packaging for unemployed youths of Manipur was launched today at the Central Hall of D.M. College of Science, Imphal, under Dhanamanjuri University.
The programme is being jointly organised by the Department of Zoology, D.M. College of Science, Imphal, in collaboration with the Rural Development Agency (RDA), with support from the Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER) and the North Eastern Council (NEC), Shillong.
The inaugural function was attended by Professor Laishram Joymati Devi, Head of the Department of Zoology, Dhanamanjuri University; Professor L. Hemchandra Singh, Dean, School of Life Sciences; Dr Kh. Brajamani Meetei, Senior Scientist and Head, Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Bishnupur; and N. Amusana Devi, President of the Rural Development Agency, as dignitaries.
The training programme is being conducted by assistant professors of the Department of Zoology, D.M. University, including Dr M. Medhapati Devi, Dr Chingoileima Maibam, Dr Yumnam Lokeshwor Singh, Dr Salma Begum, Dr Konsam Nishikanta Singh, along with T. Shanjoy, who are serving as trainers.
Entrepreneurs involved in bamboo shoot processing as well as students of the college are participating in the programme as trainees.
