Students’ Wing of Joint Committee on Inner Line Permit System (JCILPS) today said that bakeries own by non-locals do not follow food safety norms in the state.Angamba, convener of Students’ Wing of JCILPS said this after conducting a drive in some bakeries own by non-locals to find out non-locals without having proper identity proof. During the drive volunteers of Students’ Wing found that many bakery items sold in the market are manufacture two or three days before the date they printed on the packets. Breads and other bakery items manufactured today were found packed with the date of 22nd August, 23rd August and 24th August respectively.Besides this, the pans used for making sweet items were filled with cigarette filters and match sticks. The unhygienic condition of the manufacturing unit clearly indicates that the bakeries own by non-locals do not follow food safety norms.Angamba also demanded to take legal actions against those bakery owners for selling outdated and stale food items to the people of the state.Meanwhile, volunteers of Women Wing of Joint Committee on Inner Line Permit System (JCILPS) today tried to storm the gate of Governor’s Bungalow in Imphal. However, they have been stopped by police near the traffic island. The women volunteers shouted slogans demanding implementation of ILP in Manipur. They further demanded 60 MLAs of Manipur to resign if they cannot implement ILP in the state as soon as possible.
