Imphal, July 16: Human Rights defender Babloo Loitongbam didn’t turn up to the sitting of the Privilege Committee Manipur Legislative Assembly over his controversial remark at a local TV channel. Source said that representatives of the local TV Channel had however turned up to the committee and tender apology for broadcasting the programme if it hurts the sentiments of the representatives.
However, Babloo Loitongbam did not turn up to the committee as he is reported to be out of station. Both the TV Channel and Babloo Loitongbam were summoned by the privilege committee of the Manipur Legislative Assembly after the house passed on a privilege motion against them. They were asked to present before the committee at 10 am today.
The source said that Babloo was unable to present before the committee as he is currently out of station. Source said Babloo Loitong leaves for New Delhi yesterday evening in an Indigo flight. It was not clear on whether Babloo had taken permission or not for deferring the date for his appearance to the Privilege committee.
