Awareness programme to fight cancer

Apollo Gleneagles Hospital Kolkata organized a one day awareness program on the topic –  “Early detection is the greatest weapon in the fighting against cancer” at press club today.
Dr. Akhter Jawade, Consultant Radiation Oncologist, Apollo Gleneagles Hospital and Dr Amit Dutt Dwary, Consultant, Medical Oncologist, Apollo Gleneagles Hospital attended as resource persons .
Speaking on the occasion Dr. Akhter Jawade said that head and neck cancer are very common in the North-east however it can be treated if detected at early stage. 30 percent are preventable by quitting smoking, drinking alcohol and chewing tobacco. He further appealed to say no to tobacco, not only to escape cancer but also to avoid your family from facing the financial, emotional and social trauma.
