Awareness programme on Forest Fire Prevention held

A one-day awareness programme on the Conservation and Protection of Forest Resources from Forest Fire was held today at the Wangoo Laipham Makha Leikai Community Hall. The event was organised by the Thoubal Forest Division under the Forest Fire Prevention and Management Scheme (FFPME), APO 2024–25.
The programme was attended by Leishangthem Jeecelee, Divisional Forest Officer (DFO) Thoubal; Sanasam Chitaranjan, Member of Wildlife Explore Manipur; and Laishram Deben, Caretaker Chairperson of Wangoo Gram Panchayat.
Speaking on the occasion, DFO Leishangthem Jeecelee highlighted the vital role forests play in sustaining life, stating, “Forests provide essential resources for humanity, and it is our collective responsibility to protect these natural assets.”
She also urged the public to take advantage of various schemes offered by the Forest Department and to develop the practice of tree plantation.
The awareness programme was also attended by Clubs, CSOs, Meira Paibis and students of different schools in Wangoo area.
