Awareness programme on alcohol and drug abuse held at old age home

Imphal, Sept 12:

An awareness Program on Prevention of Drug Abuse and Alcoholism was held Old Age Home run South Eastern Rural Development Organization (SERDO), at Sangaiyumpham Part II in Thoubal District under Nasha Mukt Bharat Campaign today.

Around 35 inmates (including Women) staying at the Old Aged Home attended the programme by maintaining SOP of Covid 19 pandemic.

District Social Welfare Officer Arambam Kameshwar, SERDO Secretary Md. MW Rahman and Chief Functionary Md Maniruddin attended as Resource Persons.

The basic objectives and purpose of organising the Campaign is to spread awareness about the harmful effects of abusing drugs to the health, particularly among the aged people and during the Covid 19 Pandemic.

 Addiction to the locally available drugs and dependence producing substances affect not only the personal health of the abuser but the habit has created social and economic problems in every family. Lot of interactive sessions on how to avoid the tobacco products also took place during the programme. The SERDO Secretary thanked the Campaign team for organising the Awareness program for the benefit of the inmates in the Old Age Home
