Awareness program on conservation & protection of natural forests held

A one-day awareness program on the Conservation & Protection of Natural Forests was held today at Haoreng Chingyang Community Hall, Thanga, in Bishnupur district. The program was organized by the Bishnupur Forest Division under the CAMPA Scheme 2024-25 of the Forest Department.
Divisional Forest Officer (DFO) Bishnupur Waikhom Romabai, National Youth Awardee from Thanga Ngaram, Oinam Maipakchao, ICMR Scientist Dr. Ningthoujam Yaima, Cluster Development Executive of District Handlooms & Textiles Bishnupur, Nambol CDP Hangkem Sarjubala, and Range Forest Officer Moirang, Hidangmayum Geetchandra attended the programme. They addressed the audience, emphasizing the importance of forest conservation and protection.
In her speech, DFO Waikhom Romabai stated that preserving forests is crucial for ensuring environmental sustainability. She highlighted the need to safeguard natural forests, as they play a vital role in maintaining ecological balance. She also stressed the importance of raising awareness among the younger generation and encouraging active participation in forest conservation efforts.
During the event, young participants were urged to take responsibility in protecting natural forests and preventing deforestation.
