An awareness-cum-sprinkler distribution programme was held at Meitei Shanglen, Pukhri Achouba Manak, Pallel, Kakching district, organised by the Department of Agriculture, Kakching, in collaboration with Khana Chaoba FPC Ltd., Kakching.
Joychandra Konthoujam, Chairman of the Justice Committee on Anglo-Manipur War, 1891 Martyrs and Freedom Fighters of Kangleipak (Manipur), attended as Chief Guest, while R.K. Umakanta Singh, District Agriculture Officer, Thoubal and Kakching, presided over the programme. L. Romita of Pallel Meira Paibi and P. Ibotombi Singh, Chairman, United Committee Manipur, Pallel Unit, attended as Guests of Honour.
Speaking at the programme, Konthoujam stressed the importance of food production and agricultural self-reliance for strengthening Manipur’s economy and society. He urged farmers to make greater use of available land and adopt improved farming practices.
He called for closer cooperation between farmers and agricultural scientists, along with regular training to improve productivity and farming skills.
