The District Administration of Pherzawl intensified its child protection initiatives by organising a Special Adoption Awareness Campaign-cum-Awareness Programme on the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act, 2012 at Parbung Village on Friday and at the DC Office Complex on Saturday.
The programme was conducted in collaboration with the District Social Welfare Office, the District Child Protection Officer, Village Authority members and youth clubs, highlighting the administration’s commitment to safeguarding the rights and dignity of children, particularly girls.
Deputy Commissioner Mannuamching, IAS, addressed the gathering and stressed the importance of preventive awareness and timely reporting of offences against children. She explained the key provisions of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act, 2012, which provides legal safeguards to minors below 18 years against sexual assault, harassment and exploitation, including cyber-related offences.
She also called upon communities to remain vigilant against child marriage and child labour. The programme concluded with participants taking a pledge to uphold child rights and promote a safe environment for children.
