Officer assigned for conducting of refreshers course to 67 personnel of the 6th Manipur Rifles (MR), 6th Indian Reserved Battalion (IRB) and 7th Manipur Rifles (MR) continue to utilize them in paddy field in and around 7th MR Battalion campus at Khabeisoi, today too. Imphal Times have reported the matter in yesterday’s issue. According to source, even security personnel who are not feeling well were force to work by their officer today morning.The personnel have been in the 7th MR Battalion since June 22, 2014 for taking part in the one month refresher course.According to a well placed source, the officer-in-charge of the refresher course ordered the 67 MR and IRB men to go at the field and force them to work from morning till evening.“Security personnel undergoing refresher course should be provided arms and combat training to refresh their mind and to improve their skills,” said a police personnel who refused to reveal his identity.He said utilizing of the security personnel in the field is in no way related with the refresher course and is in violation of the rules.Speaking to Imphal Times, one among the 67 security personnel said that sometime they are allowed to visit their home on payment of some tips to the concerned officers. He said as they have been engaged in the field, most of them had almost forgotten most of the training on combat and counter insurgency operation.A source said that those fields at which the security personnel were forced to work belong to the officer conducting the refresher course. It is also learnt that the paddy field are not actually agricultural land but converted into it by the officers who took charge of the 7th MR battalion from time to time.
