Attempt to plant bomb foiled – IE Police

Imphal East Police team claimed to have foiled an attempt to plant IED for attack to security force at any opportune moment, following the arrest of a PREPAK (PRO ) Cadre yesterday evening. The person was first detained on suspicion while conducting search operation at Keirao Awang Leikai which they later found him out to be an active member of PREPAK PRO, a police source said. The arrested cadre is identified as Ningthoujam Yamba Singh age about 36 years of Keirao Awang Leikai.  Cell phones with various SIM cards were reportedly recovered from his possession. Besides, the police source added that an identity card of the Indian army was also recovered from him. The source said that the arrested person disclosed that he is in the Indian army at AST (AT) Paharpur , Gaya , Bihar and was arrested twice in connection with crime against women. Police also claimed to have discovered the modus operandi on how he joined the PREPAK pro through one M Samu Singh  and got training at Tamu in Myanmar. On his revelation the police team picked up the said Shamu of Kongpal Kongkham Leikai . Shamu reportedly revealed that he concealed one assembled IED which was assembled by him and Yamba at the front left corner of his residence.

The police along with the bomb squad recovered the assembled IED from where they had hidden.
