Imphal, August 02:

With just 24 hours to go for the 24 hours bandh called by the All Tribal Student Union Manipur (ATSUM) supported by other tribal bodies, the district SP of Imphal West has summoned four leaders of ATSUM to talk over the matter.
A team of Imphal West picked up President of ATSUM Paotinthang Lupheng, General Secretary SR. Andria , Information Secretary Khaiminlien Doungel and Forest Secretary S Marangkhai at around noon from the ATSUM Office here in Imphal. The four leaders of the ATSUM however, are neither arrested nor detained but rather called on for a meeting by the Imphal West District SP to talk on the matter regarding the 24-hour bandh called from 6 pm tomorrow.
ATSUM supported by other tribal bodies announced the 24 hour bandh over the non-fulfillment of their demand for introducing the HAC-recommended ADC Bill, 2021in the ongoing state assembly session which may conclude on August 5.
A source with the Imphal Times said that the four ATSUM leaders are currently undergoing talk with the district Superintendent of Police Imphal West, at the time of filing this report (3.30 pm).
Even as the way the police team picked the four ATSUM leaders from their office seems rather arrest than an invitation to talk, a source said that the ATSUM leaders are simply called on to talk.
Details of the talk between the district SP and the ATSUM leaders could not be known as of now.
Meanwhile, Senapati District Students’ Union, All Naga Student Association Manipur, Tangkhul Katmnao Saklong among others have extended its support to the 24 hour bandh called by the ATSUM from 6 pm tomorrow.
On November 25, 2021, the Government of Manipur had reached to an agreement with the ATSUM, ANSAM and KSO (GHQ) in connection with the demand for the introduction of the amended ADC Bill, 2021.
