Imphal July 09: All Tribal Disabled Union Manipur (ATDUM) said that they will resume their agitation and organise a mass rally on July 16 in protest against the recent incident of raping a 15 year old tribal disabled blind girl from Ukhrul district by a person identified as Him Bahadur Thapa alias Khansa, working as Chowkidar of a state run disabled school, ‘Government ideal blind school.’ Addressing a press conference at the office of ATDUM, Nagaram, President, Momo Tangtanga said that a charge sheet has been filed by the Lamphel Police at the CJM, Imphal East on July 5. He appreciated the Investigation Officer, Ayangleima for her timely consideration in filing the charge sheet. He further appreciated the All Manipur Bar Association for accepting their proposal to provide a private advocate to assist the public prosecutor. Momo further said that the Union has demanded to terminate the School Head Mistress, Director of Social Welfare and the Warden of the Government ideal blind school from their posts however during their meeting with the Social Welfare Minister, AK Mirabai has assured to take action against the rapist before June 30. As there is no response from the concerned authorities, ATDUM has resumed protesting the mass rally which was suspended on June 20.
