At least 13 illicit drug factories destroyed during 2020 to 2023

‘Some Poppy cultivators reveals encouragement of poppy plantation by armed cadres under SOO’- CM

Chief Minister N. Biren Singh, today said that at least 13 (thirteen) illicit drug factories have been destroyed since 2020 till date.
N. Biren Singh, who is also the leader of the house of the 12th Manipur Legislative Assembly said this while clarifying to the cut motion moved by opposition MLA while passing the demand for grants for Police which amount to Rs. 2432,27,41,000/- in today’s assembly session.
The Chief Minister further said that there are some report of cultivators revealing the encouragement of poppy plantation by armed rebel group which are under suspension of operation with both the union and the state government.
“As revealed by some poppy cultivators who were arrested, there are reports about encouragement for poppy plantation by some cadres of armed rebels which are engaging in suspension of operation with the government of Manipur and the central government”, Chief Minister N. Biren said adding that the matter have been intimated to the Union Home Ministry and if any such case are found then the matter will be handed over to the NIA for investigation.
“Our government will not tolerate any such act by any armed rebel group no matter they are under suspension of operation or not”, the CM said he added that if such involvement of SOO cadres are found the state government will not compromise and will have no issues in abrogating the SOO pack.
