Alliance for Socialist Unity Kangleipak (ASUK) expresses profound grief and sorrow over the untimely demise of Captain Samjetsabam Shamungou Meitei, also known as Dhana, a revered member of the Meeyamgee Yawol Lanmee (MYL), the armed wing of KYKL. Captain Dhana passed away on January 26, leaving a void that will be deeply felt by the revolutionary movements he served.
Captain Dhana, aged 49, son of the late Samjetsabam Babuhal Meitei and the late Leikham Leima of Thinungei Mamang Leikai Ward No 9, was an integral part of MYL and actively participated in numerous offensives against the Indian armed forces. His commitment to the movement to restore the lost sovereignty of Kangleipak (Manipur) was unwavering.
ASUK’s statement issued by its publicity committee, remembers Captain Dhana as a complete revolutionary, embodying exemplary courage, patriotism, intelligence, and discipline. Remembering Captain Dhana, ASUK highlights Captain Dhana’s statement made at the 43rd rising of KCP in 2023. In his statement, Captain Dhana said “The adverse impact of the drug trade has trapped Manipur’s youth and those involved in the drug trade have become rich and are now responsible for the turmoil in the region and in order to defend the land, the clutches of drugs must be destroyed.”
