The Angami Students’ Union (ASU) has condemned the April 18 killings at TM Kasom village in Ukhrul district, in which Eno Chinaoshang Shokwungnao and Eno Yaruingam Vashum lost their lives, terming the incident a grave violation of human life and dignity.
In a statement, the student body said the incident should not be viewed in isolation but as a serious threat to peace and collective security. It stated that the right to live in peace is fundamental and non-negotiable in any civilised society.
Highlighting its position within the wider Naga community, the union maintained that the value of human life transcends administrative and geographical boundaries. It noted that social harmony is rooted in mutual respect and the protection of individual dignity, and cautioned that violence undermines these principles.
The ASU urged the authorities to ensure that justice is delivered in a transparent and time-bound manner. It also called for accountability to restore public confidence amid growing concerns over safety and security in the region.
Expressing grief over the loss of lives, the union conveyed condolences to the bereaved families and reiterated its commitment to peace. It stated that it would continue to advocate for a society where people can live without fear and with dignity.
