Imphal, Aug 20:
Chief Minister assures to table the cause of death of 4 persons including a breastfeeding mother after they allegedly took jab of the Covid-19 vaccine. The Chief Minister who is also in charge of the health department reply to a call attention motion by Congress MLA K Meghachandra during the ongoing 13th session of the 11th Manipur Legislative Assembly which began today.
A young mother allegedly died after taking the covid-19 vaccine in Thoubal district on June 2nd week. Another three ( one each from Andro, Khangabok, Bishunupur and Churachandpur) were also allegedly died after they got jabbed of the Covid -19 vaccine. MLA K. Meghachandra while moving the calling attention motion today draw the attention of the house and sought a reply from the Health Minister in charge on the reason for not disclosing the cause of death of the 4 people.
“These four people were allegedly died after taking the Covid-19 vaccine and as the department authority has not spelled out the cause of the death people now fear to get vaccinated when it has been told that covid-19 vaccination is the only alternative left to protect from the dreaded pandemic”, K Meghachandra said.
He also questions why the department is silent instead of revealing the cause of the death due to Covid-19 which is alarming. The same is with the rise of the Covid-19 positive case, the MLA said.
“Total death due to Covid-19 as per a report from the Covid Control room of the state government has reached 1732. There are reports of patient dying before reaching the hospital, can the government tell me the number of unreported Covid-19 death and if can’t why should it be?, Meghachandra asked.
He further said that the death rate is much higher than the national average so is the positivity rate which shows that there are lapses in the containment of the Covid-19 pandemic.
In connection with the measures being taken up at grassroot level under the chairmanship of the respective MLAs, Meghachandra said that only 30 lakhs has been sanction from the local area development fund to fight the pandemic. How could the pandemic which begins in December 2019 be meted with just 30 lakhs rupees?, the MLA asked.
Replying to the calling attention motion the chief minister said that the government along with the people, CSOs, MLAs, and others have been unitedly fighting the pandemic. However, as the pandemic is new and as there is no cure, and as people do not know what will happen next, many problems are being faced by the state government in fighting the pandemic.
He further said that he will table all the details of the measures being taken up by the government during the ongoing session.
