Assam Rifles Seizes Contraband Worth 2.532 Crores

In continuation to its remarkable run of seizures and apprehensions, Tengnoupal Battalion of 26 Sector Assam Rifles under the aegis of HQ IGAR (South) once again apprehended a drug smuggler carrying Brown Sugar and WY tablets worth Rs 2.532 crores at Khudengthabi Check Post.

On 02 Apr 2019 at around 1930 hours based on specific input received from reliable sources a combined team of troops of Khudengthabi Post and a team of Moreh CDO and Moreh Police Station stopped a Silver colour Hyundai i20 Magna car bearing registration No MN06LA 5954 travelling from Moreh to Imphal for checking. The individual was detained on confirmation of the carriage of contraband. The detailed search of the vehicle resulted in the seizure of 32 Bricks wrapped in an off white paper containing pouches with tablets, 64,000 pieces suspected to be WY tablets and 25 packets of orange coloured powder suspected to be Brown Sugar, approx weight 306 grams were found hidden inside the fabricated compartment under the doors of the vehicle. The contraband items were being smuggled by Mr Chirom Momocha Singh, aged 24 years, S/o Chirom Deben Singh, R/o Koirengei Bazar, Imphal  East District. The approximate cost of WY tablets and Brown Sugar is Rs 2.532 crores. 

The Battalion is resolute to prevent smuggling of Narcotics and contraband items through the area of responsibility and subsequently to prevent youth of country from digressing on the path of drug abuse.
