Asian Games 2023 has entered its Day 5 at Hangzhou, China. India has an overall 23 medals in its kitty with 5 gold, 8 silver, and 10 bronze. As of now, India is placed seventh on the ranking board. Naorem Roshibina Devi has secured a silver medal in Wushu, marking a significant milestone for the country. This is an improvement from her previous performance at the Asian Games, where she won a bronze medal. It is evident that she has made progress and can be expected to achieve even more in the future.
Prime Minister, Narendra Modi has praised Roshibina Devi Naorem on winning the Silver Medal in Wushu, Women’s Sanda 60 kg category at the Asian Games. The Prime Minister in his official handle of X posted, “Our dedicated and talented Roshibina Devi Naorem has won a Silver Medal in Wushu, Women’s Sanda 60 kg. She has showcased extraordinary talent and relentless pursuit of excellence. Her discipline and determination are also admirable. Congratulations to her.”
World number 17 and India’s badminton star, PV Sindhu, had a smooth start today in a match against Mongolia’s Myagmartseren Ganbataar in the round of 16. She beat Ganbataar 21-2, 21-3 in no time. In shooting, Sarabjot Singh, Shiva Narwal, and Arjun Singh Cheema competed in the 10m air pistol in the individual and team competitions today. Arjun is at 14th with 9.650, Sarabjot is 30th with 9.500 after 16 shots, and Shiva is 37th with 9.400 after 20 shots.
India’s Anant Jeet and Ganemat ranked seventh in the skeet mixed team final, with 18 points after round 1. In gymnastics, India’s leading gymnast, Pranati Nayak will compete in the women’s vault final today. In football, a highly anticipated match will be played between the Indian men’s football team against Saudi Arabia in the round of 16. The match is scheduled in the evening today.
