An interaction-cum-felicitation programme for the artistes of the award-winning short film “Apunbagi Khollao” was held today at Nambol Khori Leikai under the initiative of Laitonjam Youth and Students Club, Nambol.
The short film, produced by Jeet Films, had won the Best Short Film Award, Most Popular Award and Best Screenplay Writer Award at the second Open Short Film Competition organised by the Film Academy Manipur. The competition highlighted the issue of resettlement of internally displaced persons presently residing in relief camps.
Former President of MEELAL N. Tomba Mangang, President of Laitonjam Youth and Students Club Nambol Dr. Mongjam Ranjit, and Vice Principal of Brighter School, Phoijing Nambol Chinglen Tekcham attended the programme as dignitaries.
As part of the function, mementoes were presented to Gojen Luwang, who wrote the 15-minute short film and its screenplay, Director Warjit Moirangthem, Producer A. Inaocha, and other artistes in recognition of their achievements.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Mongjam Ranjit said that Oja Gojen Luwang had earlier written several notable stage plays and described the film’s success in securing three major awards as a proud moment for the locality. He expressed hope that more socially relevant and meaningful films would be produced in the future for the benefit of the public.
