Arrested rebels found involved in the shooting of Dr. Taruni

Two cadres of a rebel group who were arrested by a team of Imphal East Police from Lamlai area on October 16 were found to have been involved in the shooting of Dr. Taruni of Medicine Department, RIMS, police source said.Dr Taruni sustained minor head injury after a bullet fired by unknown miscreants scratch at her head at around 9.30 pm of March 7, 2014, when she was investigating patient inside her clinic at Uripok.   Quoting the statement of the two rebels, revealed during interrogation, the police source said that Dr. Taruni was shot from outside the clinic from a motor bike speeding from Naoremthong side towards Imphal on that evening. However, it is not confirmed whether the two arrested cadres were directly involved to the shooting or not. Police are investigating the matter.The two arrested cadres are identified as as  Ingoudam Ibungo Singh @ Inao (33) yrs S/o (L) I. Mago Singh of Seijang Makha Leikai and  Ngangom Shanta Singh @ Mamo (37) yrs S/o Ng. Krishna Singh of Loushangkhong Awang Leikai. They were arrested by a team of Imphal East Police from Lamlai Bazar on October 16 while coming to collect illegal taxes from a brick farm. Police statement had said that they were cadres of KCP (Maoist).However, Maoist Communist Party, Manipur had refuted police claimed saying that the two were not related with the activities of their outfit. The rebel group even threatened to award capital punishment to the two for misusing the name of the party.
