Around 20 bundle of betel leaves set ablaze

Around 20 bundle of betel leaves transported by air were seized today by volunteers of NIPCO and set ablaze at Changangei area.

“We have information about the transportation of 80 bundles of betel leaves by Cargo from Guwahati and as we waited we could seized only 20 bundle while they were trying to take it away from the airport”, one NIPCO volunteers to newspersons.

He said that they have exact information about the transportation of betel leaves by air cargo and still there are 50 more bundles inside the airport. He warned the government to take immediate action as there are possibility of transporting the dreaded coronavirus along with the betel leaves.

“When there are restrictions even to the movement of people, how could they allow transportation of the huge quantity of betel leaves which are used as intoxicants in the state”, the NIPCO volunteers questioned.

He warns the government authority to act and seized those betel leaves which are presently kept inside the airport premises before the civil society takes the law in their hand.
