Army Braveheart martyred in counter terrorist operation; Two terrorists eliminated

The Braveheart, Sepoy Karnveer Singh of 44 Rashtriya Rifles, was killed, while two terrorists were eliminated in a counter terrorist operation in Dragar, Chillipora, District Shopian, in Jammu & Kashmir on Wednesday.
The 25 years old Sepoy Karnveer Singh belonged to Village Daldal, in Satna district of Madhya Pradesh and is survived by his mother.
Acting on specific information about presence of terrorists in general area Dragar, Chillipora, a joint cordon and search operation was launched. The cordon was laid around the suspected area and contact was established. A call for surrender and to lay down arms was made to the terrorists. However the trapped terrorists rejected the surrender offered by the Security Forces.
The indiscriminate firing by the terrorists was retaliated and two terrorists were eliminated. An AK rifle, one UBGL and other war like stores were recovered from the encounter site.
In the firefight with the terrorists, Sepoy Karnveer Singh was grievously injured and two other soldiers suffered minor injuries. All three soldiers were air evacuated to the nearest Military Hospital, where Sep Karnveer Singh succumbed to his injuries. The other two injured soldiers are reported stable and out of any danger.
The wreath laying ceremony was laid at Chinar Corps on Thursday, wherein Lt Gen DP Pandey laid the wreath on behalf of all ranks of the Chinar Corp. Thereafter the mortal remains of Sep Karnveer Singh were taken for last rites to his native place and were laid to rest with full military honours. In this hour of grief, the Army stands in solidarity with the bereaved family and remains committed to their dignity and wellbeing, a Defence spokesman said.
