Armed militants allegedly ambushed and killed a man at around 10:30 am today in the Takou area under Tamei Sub-Division of Tamenglong district.
The deceased was identified as NK Wiphenbou, son of NK Maihinlakbou of Takou village.
According to reports, the attack was allegedly carried out by cadres of the Kuki National Front (P), Kuki National Front (N) and Kuki Revolutionary Army (KRA). The armed cadres were reportedly operating under the command of Jangboi Kipgen, identified as a commander of KNF/UPF.
Reports further alleged that Wiphenbou was killed under duress by the armed group. The circumstances leading to the incident and the exact motive behind the killing were not immediately known.
