Armed Kuki militants continue to attack Meitei villagers; no action seen from Central forces

Suspected armed Kuki militants continue to attack the villagers inhabiting the periphery areas even though the state authority had relaxed curfew from dawn to dusk under the pretext of law and order improvement. People including women and children continue to spend sleepless nights in fear of attack from armed militants at many villages in the periphery area which is just around half an hour drive from the capital Imphal.
“For around 30 days I have been spending sleepless nights due to fear of attack by armed militants, there in Imphal they presume the law and order improved and curfew has been relaxed for more hours, here in Khurkhul we are on the road resisting the movement of Assam Rifles as we fear another dreaded attack from the militants with their help”, a middle age women told media persons at Khurkhul Village today morning.
She said, “Those Kuki militants have already burnt and destroyed many of the neighbouring villages including Keimang, Chingmang, Kanto Sabal, Keingam, and Kandangband in the nose of the Assam Rifles personnel and as our village is close we fear the next could be us”.
Khurkhul is located in Imphal West district which is just around 17 km and half an hour drive from Imphal.
At Kangchup Chingkhong Apunlok village too, which is near the Khurkhul village, there is no dearth of attacks from the Kuki militants. At least 15 civilian villagers were hospitalized at RIMS after suspected armed Kuki militants attacked four different locations
Among them, after the condition of 2 deteriorated were referred to Raj Medicity.
Both are in the Intensive care unit. Some of the critically injured villagers are also reported to be undergoing treatment at Shija Hospital. One Laithangbam Noren age about 47 years, a resident of Sagolband Nepra Menjor Leikai has been undergoing treatment at Shija hospital Langol after he was critically injured in the firing by suspected Kuki militants at Kangchup Chingkhong yesterday evening. He is under ventilator.
