The Arambai Tenggol (AT) has extended its full support to the Manipur government’s recent directive to curb illegal immigration by tightening vigil at all state boundaries. The state government’s memorandum, issued on July 23 by Commissioner (Home) N. Ashok Kumar, directs all Deputy Commissioners and Superintendents of Police to establish robust mechanisms to prevent illegal crossings and ensure strict monitoring at international, inter-state, and inter-district borders.
In a statement, Arambai Tenggol declared its readiness to assist the state administration, offering the strength of nearly 70,000 youth members to support enforcement efforts. “We fully support the state government’s memorandum to prevent the entry of illegal immigrants. Our available resources will be at the government’s disposal, if needed,” the organisation stated.
The group expressed its willingness to collaborate with authorities by providing local insights and mobilising manpower for the detection and deportation of illegal migrants. “Our aim is to contribute meaningfully to ensuring law and order while protecting the rights and security of bonafide citizens,” AT said.
Highlighting the growing concerns of indigenous communities, AT said the unchecked influx of illegal immigrants is eroding ancestral lands and cultural identity, posing a grave threat to the region’s socio-economic stability and national security.
The group added that it trusted both the central and state governments and hoped the memorandum would be part of a sustained and comprehensive effort. “Such decisive actions are indispensable for enhancing national prosperity and securing the future of coming generations,” the statement read.
Meanwhile, the Manipur Police informed that Special Task Forces have been formed across all districts to identify and take legal action against illegal immigrants. The government also directed that biometric data of detected individuals be recorded, and migrants be kept in secured facilities pending deportation.
