Mantripukhri Battalion and Thoubal Battalion of 9 Sector Assam Rifles under the aegis of HQ IGAR (South) celebrated New Year 2019 at its Company Operating Bases on 1st January 2019.
Mantripukhri Battalion carried out New Year celebrations at Sawombung and Hanuman Top Company Operating Bases with the students of Leishamba Mahikol School and children of Nongpok Kakching Village. The troops extended New Year wishes to the locals and children and celebrated the New Year eve with great zeal and enthusiasm. The event was celebrated by offering sweets, indoor games, singing songs and an interactive session with the students followed by tea and refreshments.
Thoubal Battalion celebrated New Year at Upper Khoiripok Company Operating Base with the locals of Khoiripok Village. The event commenced with Nagamese prayers and ‘The Song of Joy’. The troops extended New Year greetings and best wishes to the locals. A friendly volleyball match was also played between the troops and team of Lungtoram Village as part of the celebrations.
The endeavor of the Battalions to reach out to the villagers to extend warm wishes on the New Year eve was appreciated by all. All the locals including students and teachers welcomed the good gesture of Assam Rifles and wished for peace and harmony in the region.
