AR rescue four kidnapped civilians in new Kaiphundai, Manipur

Troops of Assam Rifles rescued four civilians thereby foiling a kidnapping attempt near New Kaiphundai in Tamenglong district of Manipur on 11 & 12 January.

A foot patrol spotted two abandoned and suspiciously parked Xenon pickup vehicles loaded with Betel Nut leaves on the side of the road. During search of the area around the vehicle, the patrol came under fire from suspected armed cadres.  The troops effectively retaliated the fire upon which the cadres fled from the spot, leaving behind a kidnapped civilian. During further search of the area on January 12, the troops rescued three other kidnapped civilians and recovered one magazine of AK 47 with 12 rounds of ammunition, 500 gms of explosive (PEK) and six detonators.

The rescued civilians along with recoveries have been handed over to police for further investigations.
