Due to the COVID 19 lockdown, people of NE as well as the insurgent groups are facing financial troubles. The drug dealers and insurgents have resorted to using unsuspecting tribals and making them conduit in lure of petty returns to further their nefarious designs. Moreover, the insurgents have resorted to extortion from locals to compensate for their depleting finances in view of lock down.
Assam Rifles has recovered huge amount of illegal consignments during the lockdown which is a testament to the resolve of the security forces to reduce the trans border smuggling and make Manipur a safe state. Moreover, it’s time that the unholy nexus is exposed and the latent insurgency is hit sequentially, the larger interest of national integrity is paramount than the petty local illegal trail presentating a roadblock to sustained growth and end of insurgency in the north east.
