The civilian who sustained splinter injury in IED blast occurred at Chingarel area on the morning of August 26 was provided medical aids by AR troops, said a press statement of the IGAR (South). A press statement by PRO (IGAR South) said that the attack by the UGs caused injury to a resident of the area and Assam Rifles’ troops from Sawombung post immediately reached the spot and rescued the civilian injured in the incident and provided medical care at the post before taking to the nearest hospital.
The statement added that the kind of attack reflects the UGs penchant for causing violence and disturbance when continuous actions by the Security Forces have helped in maintaining peace in Manipur.
It further added that another such desperate measure was earlier seen on August 23, when an ambush bid near Molanghat was successfully foiled by Assam Rifles troops where 8 IEDs were later recovered from tracks used frequently by the civilians.
