AR conducts outreach training and placement drive

In order to facilitate an outreach of the National Government’s vision of ‘Transforming Rural Youth into an Economically Independent and Globally Relevant Workforce’, a mega training and placement drive under Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Grameen Kaushalya Yojana (DDU- GKY) was organised at company operating base
Thoubal by 26 Assam Rifles of 9 Sector Assam Rifles under the aegis of HQ IGAR (South) yesterday. The event was organised in conjunction with Social Amelioration Society (SAS), an Imphal based NGO and Gyanjyoti Foundation, Imphal.
The Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Grameen Kaushalya Yojana aims to engage youth, as a part of the ‘National Rural Livelihood Mission’ (NRLM) and Government’s ‘Skill Development Initiative’ tasked with the dual objective of adding diversity to the incomes of rural poor families and cater to the career aspirations of rural youth. A total of 300 students from different colleges and schools of Thoubal district attended the said event.
The Secretary and Chairman of Gyan Jyoti Foundation briefed the students about the importance of skill development and various other related schemes being run by the Gyan Jyoti Foundation. The Authorities from SAS and Gyan Jyoti Foundation expressed their gratitude towards the efforts made by the Assam Rifles to broaden the preview of the civilian populace in regards to various avenues of opportunities.
