Appointment letters of the 315 selected Assistant Sub Inspector (ASI)s will be offered on January 2015 said Deputy Chief Minister Gaikhangam, who is also in charge of Home department while replying to a calling attention motion moved by MLA Th. Shyamkumar in the last day of the 9th session of the 10th Manipur Legislative Assembly Session.
Drawing the attention of the house MLA Shyamkumar said that 315 ASI were selected by the state government for recruitment to the state police department however they have not been provided appointment orders for quite a long time. MLA Shyamkumer questions the reason for the delay in giving them appointment order.
Replying to the calling attention motion, Deputy Chief Minister Gaikhangam, who is also in charge of Home said that declaring result of the DPC takes times as it need to be careful. He said the candidates selected for appointment to the ASIs have submitted their application by enclosing various sports certificate which are stated to have been obtained from outside the state. He further said that these sports certificate need to be properly verified as they are complicated. He also said that there are approved sports disciplines for recruitment to the post and there are also sports discipline which are not approved for the recruitment. Justifying the delay in offering of the appointment order Gaikhangam said that in order to make no loopholes to the selection process the government has to verify the certificate at different stages. This was stated in reply to MLA Shyamkumar’s question urging the home minister to clarify on the procedures for verification of the certificates of the candidates.
Mention may be made that the selected ASIs has been agitating demanding offering of the appointment order since the last couple of months.
