Officers of Anti-Smuggling Unit, Customs Division, Imphal, acting on the basis of specific information intercepted one Tata Truck bearing Regn. No. NLOIK-8678 driven by one person Mohd Tamijur Rahaman, 31 yrs, S/o Md Abdul Rahaman, resident of Paobitek Mayai LeiIcai, Paobitek, Wangoi, Imphal West, and recovered 8550 gram of Brown Sugar from the driver’s backseat, Yesterday at around 17:15 hrs. The accused was intercepted at Mantripukhri. along NH-2 (Imphal Dimapur Road). lmphal East. The drugs was packed in Eleven packets wrapped with adhesive tape.
A Press release said, a case has been registered under the relevant provisions of NDPS Act, 1985. Mohd Tamijur Rahaman along with 8550gm of Brown Sugar and a 12-wheeler TATA truck which was used as a conveyance for transporting the contraband drugs has been seized under the relevant provisions of NDPS Act. 1985. The total value of the seized contraband drugs along with the truck is collectively found to be Rs. 8,75,00,000/-(Rupees eight crores seventy five lakhs) only. “
