An agreement extending medical treatment benefits to working journalists was signed between the All Manipur Working Journalists’ Union (AMWJU) and Asian Hospital and Research Institute today at the Manipur Press Club in Imphal.
The agreement was formally signed by the human resources manager of Asian Hospital and Research Institute, Bobo, and members of the journalists’ body led by its president, Asem Bhakta. The understanding has been reached with the objective of providing concessional medical services to registered working journalists in the state.
As per the terms of the agreement, Asian Hospital and Research Institute, located at Twenty First June, Manipur, has agreed to extend medical concessions to registered members of the United Association of Working Journalists, Manipur, and the Manipur Working Journalists’ Union. The hospital is represented by its authorised signatory, while the journalists’ organisations are recognised as the participating parties to the agreement.
Under the agreement, eligible members of the All Manipur Working Journalists’ Union will be entitled to a discount of twenty percent on treatment charges and thirty percent on diagnostic testing at Asian Hospital and Research Institute. The arrangement is aimed at easing access to healthcare services for working journalists through institutional support.
Eligibility for availing the benefits is restricted to registered working journalists who produce a valid association identity card at the time of seeking medical services. It is further stated that the concessions will be applicable only when the member personally visits the hospital.
The agreement also specifies that the benefits are non transferable and cannot be combined with any other promotional offers unless approved by the hospital management. All discounts extended under the agreement will be governed by the hospital’s existing rules, regulations and medical policies.
The agreement is expected to provide significant relief to working journalists by reducing the financial burden associated with medical treatment and diagnostic services.
