Imphal, Mar 24:
Manipur Chief Minister N. Biren Singh assures a team of journalists led by All Manipur Working Journalists’ Union (AMWJU) President W. Shamjai with Indian Journalists Union (IJU) President Geetartha Pathak and Joint Secretary of Indo Bangla Journalists Forum Abdul Hadi that he will take up the issue granting easy Indian VISA to Northeast visiting Bangladeshi citizen including Bangladeshi Manipuri people.
The CM also assures the team that he will uplift the AMWJU office to a smart building with a state of the art technology with a modern elevation system, media centre, Digital Display board, sound system etc. lJU President Geetartha Pathak requested the CM to transform the AMWJU building to a gateway and hub of Indian journalists to South East Asia. The CM responded to the proposal with enthusiasm. He also said that he is considering increasing the Pension amount from present Rs. 8000/-to higher slab. Abdul Hadi, joint Secretary of Indo Bangla Journalists Forum from Bangladesh also called on the Manipur CM today along with the team. He said that he is very much concerned about the Meitei people living in Bangladesh and said that he will send a team of journalists from Manipur to Bangladesh to take stock of the condition of the Manipuri people of Bangladesh.
The CM said that the state will host a meeting of Indo Bangla Journalists Forum in Manipur shortly. The journalists team was consisted of apart from AMWJU and IJU President, K. Naoba, Secretary, AMWJU, Asem Bhakta Singh treasurer of IJU and Shahidul Islam executive body member Journalists Union of Assam.
