AMWJU celebrates Ningol Chakkouba honouring women journalists

The All Manipur Working Journalists’ Union (AMWJU) today hosted a special Ningol Chakkouba celebration at the Manipur Press Club, honouring women journalists from across the state. The event, marked by cultural warmth and camaraderie, was dedicated to celebrating the contributions of women in the media fraternity.
The day’s programme began with the arrival of participants in traditional Manipuri attire, reflecting the state’s vibrant cultural heritage. AMWJU office bearers extended a heartfelt welcome to all attendees, followed by a festive lunch that captured the spirit of the season.
In his address, Asem Bhakta, President of AMWJU, highlighted the deeper significance of Ningol Chakkouba as a festival that reinforces bonds of unity, respect, and mutual appreciation among women. He noted that the gathering was not merely a celebration but also a gesture of gratitude toward women journalists who continue to uphold the values of truth and integrity in their profession.
Each participant received a token of appreciation under the theme of “Paomee Ningol”, symbolizing goodwill and affection.
Adding cheer to the event, a lucky draw—sponsored by the Directorate of Handlooms and Textiles, Government of Manipur—was held exclusively for lunch attendees. Child artist Winnie Thangjam conducted the draw, which featured attractive prizes, including – Gold earring sponsored by Ima Panthobi Jewellery, Wahengbam Leikai, Gold ring sponsored by Leiren Jewellers, Sega Road Thoudahbabok Leikai and Rice cookers sponsored by MAZO HUB, Keishampat Konjeng Hajari Leikai
