The All Manipur Students’ Union (AMSU) has welcomed the ongoing peace process as a positive step toward resolving the prolonged crisis in Manipur, while urging that the state’s collective interests and territorial integrity be protected.
In a statement issued by its Publicity and Information Secretary Yumnam Clinton Mangang, AMSU noted that the over three-year-long conflict has severely impacted all communities, particularly students displaced as internally displaced persons (IDPs). The organisation expressed concern over their hardships and said it has extended support during the crisis.
AMSU described Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand’s meeting with Kuki-Zo Council representatives in Guwahati on March 21, 2026, as a constructive first step, stressing that dialogue and political engagement remain essential for a lasting solution.
The union cautioned that prolonged conflict has damaged the state’s social fabric and economy, warning of long-term consequences if instability continues. It also highlighted fragile inter-community trust, noting emerging tensions beyond existing divides.
Urging all stakeholders to act responsibly, AMSU called for sincere and transparent governance to restore normalcy. While backing the peace dialogue, the student body asserted that Manipur’s core interests must not be compromised during negotiations.
