AMSU stages demonstration demanding repeal of CAA

The All Manipur Students’ Union (AMSU), a constituent student body of North East Students Organisation (NESO) in Manipur also organised a protest demonstration in Imphal today.
The protest was organised by AMSU under the banner NESO urging the authorities concerned to implement a 12 point charter of demands which includes the implementation of the Inner Line Permit (ILP) system in the entire NE region and the repeal of the Citizenship (Amendment) Act. The protest was held at the gate of AMSU headquarters in Imphal.
The other demands are updation of NRC (National Register of Citizenship) 1951, repeal of Armed Forces (Special Powers) Act 1958, introduction of educational policy related to NE region, economic development, implementation of Assam accord, solving of unemployment problem, introduction of special constitutional status, separate time zone and other refugee problem.

Speaking to media on the sideline of the protest, Haobijam Chalamba, president of the All Manipur Students’ Union said that they’re urging the governments to implement the demands considering the vulnerability of the region’s population in different areas.
The AMSU will also launch various forms of agitation under the banner of NESO until the demands are fulfilled, the student leader said.
Shouting slogans and holding placards which read Update NRC, Implement ILP to the entire NE region, Repeal CAA, Repeal AFSPA, Adopt an education policy for NE region based on Culture & history of NE, Solve unemployment problem immediately, the students of different educational institutions in their school uniforms took part in the day’s protest.
