Will education policy change with every change of minister – Bruce Pebam

IT News

Imphal, Oct 6:

The All Manipur Students’ Union (AMSU) vehemently condemn the remark of the new education Minister S Rajen at which he stated to collect 30% of the school fees during COVID19 pandemic stating that earlier Education Minister had already issued order to exempt the school fees for students during COVID-19 pandemic.

“Will any order issued for the welfare of the student be changed with the change of the education Minister?”, Bruce asked saying that the student body knows that there is instability in the government and such instability should not hurt the academic curriculum of the student community of the state.

Talking to media persons at MASU general head quarter Bruce Pebam , who is the secretary of the Human Resource development of the AMSU said that earlier Education Minister had announced that the school fees for students should be exempted during COVID-19 pandemic.

“After the pandemic started, functioning of school had stopped and  all stakeholders of schools including the government authority had agreed to exempt school fee during the pandemic”, Bruce  said.

He added that on 4th May the MCPCR had also directed the schools to exempt school fees. Besides, the Education (S) department had also issued various circular to exempt school fees from time to time as people across the state are extremely facing financial crisis during the pandemic. On 26th May the government had issued a circular to submit the details of fees collected from students , number of teachers and students and also the salary paid to the teachers , however, the unfortunate part is that no private school has placed the detail expenditures for running the schools and also the number of students to the public domain, Bruce said.

He added that it surprises the AMSU on why the government authority announced to collect 30% school fees from students on October 5 after the coming of a new education Minister.

This is nothing but by-pass of all government orders issued earlier, he added .
