The All Manipur Students’ Union (AMSU) today launched its month-long “Regeneration Month, 2026” programme at TG Higher Secondary School as part of the observance of the 61st Hunger Marchers’ Day, with a renewed call for a self-reliant Manipur.
The campaign, being held from July 27 to August 27, is organised under the theme “AMSU for Self-Reliant Manipur” and aims to promote awareness and public participation in issues concerning education, youth empowerment and the socio-economic development of the state.
The inaugural function was presided over by Lukram Malangba Meitei, President of AMSU Headquarters. Former AMSU President and Adviser Thokchom Suresh attended the programme as the Chief Guest, while Nongmaithem Dhana Singh, Vice-Principal in-charge of TG Higher Secondary School, graced the occasion as the Guest of Honour.
The programme began with the arrival of dignitaries, followed by the traditional Lengyan Phee presentation and ceremonial candle-lighting. A welcome address was delivered by Huidrom Punshiba Mangang, Organisation Secretary of AMSU Headquarters, while the keynote address was presented by Salam Changkhokhomba, Secretary General of the student body.
The Chief Guest, Guest of Honour and the AMSU President also addressed the gathering, highlighting the importance of collective efforts in building a self-reliant Manipur and encouraging greater youth participation in social and educational transformation. The function concluded with a vote of thanks proposed by Serto Rengneier Kom, Information and Publicity Secretary of AMSU Headquarters, followed by light refreshments.
According to AMSU, a series of programmes and public outreach activities will be organised across the state during the month-long observance leading up to August 27, commemorating the legacy of the Hunger Marchers while reaffirming the organisation’s commitment to strengthening education, social responsibility and self-reliance among the youth.
Talking on the ocasion AMSU President Lukram Malangba appealed the people particularly the students community of the state to extend solidarity to the month-long observance of Hunger Marchers’ Day.
