Volunteers of All Manipur Students’ Union (AMSU) today forms human chain in front of the four Catholic Schools in Imphal which have been threatened by a group of KCP (MC) since the last one month. The four Catholic Schools – Catholic School Canchipur, Little Flower School, Nirmalabas High School and St. Joseph School has been shut down since the last 30 days following threats from the armed group. The classes were resumed since the last two days following pressures from various students’ bodies and parents however classes could not be conducted as there was fear psychosis among the school authorities. Not many students as well as teachers were present on the last two days but the numbers of students and teachers attended today are comparatively high today.
Considering the seriousness of the development, state government had yesterday announced to open all the school from today. Yesterday’s cabinet meeting had resolved to cancel affiliation of the schools which had failed to open from today. On the other hand, school students transporters were also threaten of serious consequences if they fail to resume duty from today.
Forty volunteers each of AMSU today visited at all the four schools and form human chain in front of the schools along with the guardians and parents of the students when the students were taking attending classes at their respective schools.
State security forces were also seen deployed at the close proximity of the school today unlike the past few days.
