The All Manipur Students’ Union (AMSU) on Saturday continued its academic campaign as part of the observance of the 61st Hunger Marchers’ Day, 2026 and Regeneration Month (Mathou Shangba Thabum) by conducting awareness programmes at various schools in Imphal West, Imphal East and Kakching districts.
At Ananda Singh Higher Secondary School, the academic campaign was attended by AMSU Vice-President Naorem Wangamba and the school’s lecturer, Aruna, who addressed the students.
Speaking on the occasion, Naorem Wangamba said students have a vital responsibility in building a progressive society and a stronger nation by making the best use of the education they receive. He stressed that students should develop themselves into responsible citizens with strong values and character.
He further stated that despite the various commemorative events organised annually, many young people have yet to fully understand and uphold the ideals and sacrifices of the Hunger Marchers. Without embracing those ideals, he said, it would be difficult to build a better future for society.
Wangamba added that if Manipur aspires to become a developed and progressive society comparable to other advanced regions, students and the youth must reflect on their responsibilities and actively contribute to the welfare and development of the State.
As part of the campaign, another AMSU team led by Secretary General Salam Changkhonba conducted awareness programmes at Ram Lal Paul Higher Secondary School, Millennium Institute of Science and Shishu Nistha Niketan in Imphal West District.
Addressing the students, Salam Changkhonba expressed concern over the growing decline in discipline, moral values and social responsibility among the youth, describing it as a serious challenge to the future of the State. He said AMSU launched the Regeneration Month (Mathou Shangba Thabum) campaign to inspire students to become disciplined, responsible and self-reliant citizens, with the vision of building a “Self-Reliant Manipur.”
Meanwhile, in Kakching District, an AMSU team led by Organisation Secretary Huidrom Punshiba conducted academic campaigns at Royal Brighter Academy Higher Secondary School, Sora, and Martin Grammar School, Kakching, highlighting the importance of education, discipline and social responsibility among students.
