Imphal Jan 31:

All Manipur Students Guardians’ Association 9AMSGO) today expressed its concern over commercialization of Education sector in the state.
A discussion on charging of excessive tuition fees from students by their private tutors was organized today at Manipur Press Club.
During the discussion, S. Sumati, Secretary of All Manipur Students’ Guardians Association said that while AMSGO is expecting an overall development in education sector in the state, education system in Manipur is deteriorating day by day due to the culture of private tuition in the state.
She said alleged that many teachers do not teach their students in the schools properly and invited the students to join private tuition at the teacher’s home. Many of them charged excessive fee from the students. Instead of thinking to impart knowledge to the students, they use education as a tool to earn money.
The number of drop out students increases as many students belonging to underprivileged families cannot go tuition. This is right time to give proper treatment to education system in the state.
The discussion was also attended by N. Chaoba, working president of AMSGO, Kh. Mahendra, VP, O. Yaima, General Secretary, H. Borbabu, Treasurer.
